Home Is . . . Music Edition - Exhibition

Ali Cultural Arts Center
May 20 - Aug 11

This exhibition is an extension of the “Home Is…” currently on display at the Blanche Ely House Museum, featuring the answers from the question about the songs that remind the public of “Home.” This participatory installation places the curatorial power in the hands of the community in pursuit of new questions and communal answers. This exhibition features: large format signage listing some of the songs submitted, cover images, musician photos, and other images; a QR code where people can listen to the Home Exhibition playlist; a TV playing the YouTube playlist; a Post-It wall where visitors can add their songs and the reason why it reminds them of Home – which will be incorporated to the playlist. Social media component will keep the conversation going for the non-local public.

HOME IS…, the exhibition at the Blanche Ely House Museum, is designed as a community-based, participatory installation placing the curatorial power in the hands of the community in pursuit of new questions and communal answers to the following:

  • What is your idea of home?
  • When does "home" become home?
  • What makes a house a home?
  • What makes Pompano home?
  • What makes Northwest Community home?
