To protect the public health and slow the rate of transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19), all City of Pompano Beach public gatherings have been cancelled or postponed. In addition, until further notice, all cultural arts venues will be temporarily closed to the general public.
African American Women Changemakers is an educational exhibition that features over 30 photographs of African American women educators, activists, and artists from the Library of Congress, Prints and Photographs Division. Three of Pompano Beach’s very own changemakers: Esther Rolle, Blanche Ely and Florence Ali are included in this exhibition. Other changemakers include: Fannie Lou Hamer, Charlayne Hunter-Gault, Althea Gibson, Susie King Taylor, Angela Davis, Nannie Helen Burroughs, Barbara Jordan, Shirley Chisholm, Mary Church Terrell, Rosa Parks, Sojourner Truth, Maria 'Molly' Baldwin, Phyllis Wheathy and Harriet Tubman.
