HOME IS…, the newest exhibition at the Blanche Ely House Museum, is designed as a community-based, participatory installation placing the curatorial power in the hands of the community in pursuit of new questions and communal answers to the following:
HOME IS… begins with an empty space, a blank slate, questions and infinite possibilities. Visitors become creators and are invited to visit frequently, participated in community events and appreciate the transformation of the museum rotating gallery space. The Blanche Ely House Museum is open to the public for tours to individuals and small groups, lectures, arts education workshops, community engagement activities and events that delve deeper into the collection.

CULTURAL CONVERSATIONS AND ORAL HISTORY COLLECTION
On the third Sundays from November through April, you are invited to join us as at Blanche Ely House Museum as we touch on a different theme each month and collect oral history for others to enjoy for generations to come.
November 21

Enjoy a TASTE OF HOME during this community recipe exchange and oral history collection. Bring a family recipe, food related photos from Pompano’s past, share a food related story from your childhood!
December 19
Theme: HOME IS…WHERE THE HEART IS; COMING & GOING HOME
The Elys worked to create opportunities for former students at home and beyond. Many of those students left “home” for college but returned to live and work locally. Let’s explore what makes Pompano “home” for so many.
