“From the shattered pieces, raw emotions are felt and spoken from all sides, new light filters in and a new beginning affords broken souls to atone as the communities seek to move forward with grace, honesty, and dignity,” ~Yves Gabriel
In Shattered, Yves Gabriel presents works that addresses issues of identity, gender inequality, and cultural contradictions in Haiti and the United States through wood, metal, canvas, often responding to current political, cultural and social discourses. Typically using a multi-layered process along with mixed media, Gabriel captures the complexity of these topics, which remain points of contention throughout communities nationwide and beyond.
