Alex Williams

"Alex Williams is a multi-disciplinary artist, based in Miami, Florida, who creates artworks spanning from installations, filmmaking, physical media, and collage art. Williams uses world-building techniques to produce tangible items such as large-scale structures and a recurring publication titled Bas Magazine. Their works explore themes like Black Identity, Afrosurrealism, Mental Health, and Representation. Williams was born and raised in Miami, Florida, in 1997. Growing up, living and being around such culturally rich environments and art, influenced his work to be led with imagination, understanding that the bounds of creativity have no ending.

Williams took his imagination and experiences and began to execute on ideas and concepts that were forming right in front of his eyes. His works provide a unique point of view about his experience of things he has faced as a Black man in America. Speaking on the unemployment rates, Black representation/belonging in life, and in the workplace. When crafting these concepts, Williams’s background in studying theatre at Florida A&M University aids his interest in storytelling and research. Creating worlds that the people can find themselves in, sparking change in thought and conversation."
