Creative Pompano Exhibition

The City of Pompano Beach Cultural Affairs Department cordially invites Pompano Beach City Employees and their immediate family members (spouses/partners and children) to celebrate the arts next spring 2021 by submitting their artwork to a juried exhibition hosted at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center, on view January 8 – April 1, 2021. Deadline for Submission has been extended: October 16, 2020, before 12 midnight.

This juried exhibition will showcase a wide range of artworks including, but not limited to: drawing, painting, photography, and sculptures. All visual arts media will be welcomed for consideration by a panel of jurors for this exhibition.

The City of Pompano Beach is a cultural arts destination featuring innovative arts programming that includes the visual arts, music, film, theater, dance, public art, history, and historic preservation for the enjoyment and enrichment of residents of and visitors to Pompano Beach and the greater South Florida area. The Pompano Beach Cultural Center, adjacent to City Hall in the revitalized downtown Pompano, offers cultural opportunities in many artistic disciplines while providing the public access to world –renowned music, dance, theater performances and art exhibitions.

GUIDELINES
Submit up to five (5) digital files via email to PBArtsInfo@copbfl.com. Notifications are sent via email. Artists selected will be given sufficient time to prepare their work and make shipping or delivery arrangements prior to their artwork intake deadline. Artworks in the exhibition will not be for sale.

SUBMISSION

  • This Call for Entries is open to all Pompano Beach City Employees, and their immediate family members (spouses/partners and children)
  • There is no submission fee
  • Up to five images per artist should be submitted in the following format:
    - JPG, 300dpi up to 10" on the long side
    - Name each file with your name and the title, for example: smith_jane_title.jpg
    - Deadline for Submission: October 16, 2020, before 12 midnight
  • Submission Form
  • Email submission (five images + submission form) to PBArtsInfo@copbfl.com
  • Please note: Improperly titled JPGs and/or a missing submission form will result in your submission(s) not being reviewed.

DELIVERY OF ARTWORK

Accepted artworks must be original works of art and must not exceed 50” in any dimensions. All two-dimensional artworks must ready-to-hang. No substitution, exchange, modification or withdrawal of artworks is permitted after they are accepted for the exhibition. Should any piece of art differ significantly from the original image entry, the piece will be disqualified from the exhibition.

IMPORTANT DATES/TIMELINE

  • Submission Deadline: October 16, 2020, before 12 midnight
  • Notification to Artists: November 20, 2020
  • Shipping/Delivery Deadline: December 18, 2020
  • Opening Reception: January 8, 2021 | 6pm -9pm
  • Exhibition Dates: January 8 – April 1, 2021

Shipping/Insurance/Return
Artists are responsible for round-trip delivery and insurance (if mailed, during shipping) of artworks. If delivered in person, accepted artworks will be received by Cultural Affairs Department staff at locations and dates to-be-announced. If artwork will be mailed, all shipments must include a prepaid UPS OR FED EX return label and be shipped in a container suitable to re-use for return shipping. Work must be shipped prepaid to Pompano Beach Cultural Center in sturdy and reusable packing; make sure to include instructions for unpacking or assembly if needed. Work sent through the U.S. Postal Service, must include a shipping label, USPS stamps will not be accepted. The City of Pompano Beach is not responsible for damage to artwork during transport to and from Pompano Beach Cultural Center. ​​ Work may also be delivered in person to Pompano Beach Cultural Center, 50 West Atlantic Blvd, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Additional shipping instructions will be mailed with acceptance notices.

Liability
All possible care will be taken of the work submitted to the exhibition. The City of Pompano Beach will not assume liability for loss or damage associated with shipping. The City does insure the exhibition against loss and damage. The artist has ten (10) days to submit a written claim and three (3) bids for repair. Claims will not be considered on pre-existing conditions. Unless otherwise stated in writing, the City of Pompano Beach assumes permission to photograph selected artwork and/or reproduce slide images for publicity purposes. All guidelines governing the exhibition are subject to interpretation by the City’s agents. Submission of work through this application process indicates acceptance of all conditions listed in this prospectus for all exhibitions.

Artists Old Town Mural in Pompano Beach

SELECTED ARTIST BUDGET: $15,000

DEADLINE: November 13, 2020

The City of Pompano Beach will commission an artist for a mural to be installed on the back exterior wall located at 60 & 50 NE 1st Ave. The approximate size of the wall is 130’ long by 20’ high. The wall is located in the Innovation and Creative Arts District. The mural will be a significant gateway to downtown.
