Pompano Beach Arts Launches 2025–2026 Artists in Residence Program
Pompano Beach is kicking off its cultural season with the return of the Artists in Residence (AiR) Program, a nine-month celebration of creativity and community hosted at Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA). Opening on Friday, October 3, 2025, the program begins with a solo exhibition by Christina Prezzemolo, the first featured artist in this year’s “Artist of the Month” series. The evening also marks the start of Old Town Untapped, the city’s popular arts and music festival, promising an exciting night where local talent, live entertainment, and community spirit converge.
A Residency that Inspires and Connects
The AiR program, running from October through June, provides a unique platform for emerging and mid-career artists to advance their creative practice while engaging with the local community. Over the next nine months, eight resident artists—selected by a distinguished panel of judges—and one returning AiR alumnus will showcase their talents at BaCA.
Each month, a different artist will be highlighted through a solo exhibition, offering visitors an intimate view of their evolving body of work. In addition, residents are given dedicated studio spaces inside BaCA’s historic building, which houses nine studios and three galleries. These creative hubs serve as both exhibition spaces and classrooms, fostering collaboration, dialogue, and cultural enrichment.
The 2025–2026 AiR class includes:
- Christina Prezzemolo
- Mark Espinoza (JustMark.exe)
- Georgeta Fondos
- Claudette Goico Šernius
- Jed-Lee Metayer
- Sarah Rocca
- Liv Cook
- Mikael Semexant
- Alumni Artist: Louiveste La Croix
Enriching the Artist and the Community
The AiR program is more than an exhibition opportunity. Artists will participate in marketing and business skills workshops designed to help them grow professionally. They will also create interactive experiences for the public, such as workshops, performances, and artist talks. These events allow the community to connect directly with the creators, fostering deeper appreciation and support for the arts.
At the conclusion of the residency in June, the entire cohort will come together for a final group exhibition, showcasing the new works developed during their residency. This culminating event highlights the growth of each artist and celebrates their collective contribution to South Florida’s cultural landscape.
Old Town Untapped: A Season Opener
The launch event will also mark the return of Old Town Untapped, Pompano Beach’s monthly street festival that transforms Old Town into a lively celebration of the arts. Taking place from 6 – 10 p.m., the festival features live music, food trucks, art vendors, and gallery exhibitions—all free and open to the public.
By aligning the AiR launch with Old Town Untapped, Pompano Beach Arts ensures that residents and visitors alike can experience the very best the city has to offer in one unforgettable evening.
