Project Update: | No new updates for this month (September) as the Design Team continues to work on the preliminary drawings for the Design for the bridge. Now that the United States Coast Guard (USCG) has provided the navigation determination letter, the Design Team (Kimley Horn) is moving full throttle with the design of the bridge. Currently, all coordination efforts with the utilities (FPL, City, ATT, Comcast, Etc.), the bridge’s superstructure, pilings, approach slab, landscape, aesthetics and detour routes are being established. The Design Team will have a preliminary design of the bridge by end of October if not sooner. This will be posted on this web site for all to see and stay informed on the progress of this project. As a refresher, this part of the design process includes and is not limited to: the horizontal geometry of the bridge, which will show the apex of the bridge being raised approximately 8 inches higher than its current state, the travel lane dimensions and the sidewalks traversing both directions. The increased vehicular lane width and added sidewalks will significantly improve safety, visibility and mobility. Our next update will be in late October when the preliminary Design of the bridge has been completed. Please continue to access the City’s web site for any future updates. |
Site Work: | All existing geotechnical and pavement information has been collected. No crews are scheduled to perform work near the bridge at this time. |
