The City of Pompano Beach is offering eligible residents free rapid reskill / upskill for in-demand employment fields including free credentials!

Kick-off Orientation is on Thursday, November 4th from 9-11am at the Pompano Beach Commission Chamber, 100 West Atlantic Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL 33060.

Free Certificate in Hospitality and Tourism Management from FAU (Florida Atlantic University) in only 5 Days at the North Pompano Beach Highlands Community Center!

Must complete all 5 days:

November 6th, 13th, 20th, December 4th, and 11th from 8:00am – 5:00pm

It’s for any level and any person:

It’s for lifelong learning for those who may already possess a formal education in the industry.

It opens doors for those who have not yet pursued a college degree.

It enhances a “fresh look” to those who already may have degrees in other areas.

Free Certificate from BC (Broward College) in Culinary: Catering Business Essentials in only 5 Days at the Pompano Beach Cultural Center!

Must complete all 5 days:

Jan. 20th, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th from 9:00am – 3:00pm

The course focuses on cooking skills every caterer need, with an introduction to the business side of catering including how to cook for large crowds, organize your kitchen, manage your time, work with clients, prepare beautiful food, event and menu planning.

For weddings, showers, business parties and more, be your own boss, or work in the hospitality industry.

Free Daily Workforce Help Hour at Community Centers Across the City from 12 Noon to 1 p.m. for the rest of the year 2021 except holidays.

The City of Pompano Beach Job Placement Center is providing free Workforce Help Hour with one-on-one assistance to Pompano Beach job seekers, employers and workforce resources. This Help Hour is meant to fast-track the connection between job seekers and employers, also provide workforce guidance on the City’s rapid reskill and upskill programs with free credentials for eligible residents.

Eligible Residents must be able to provide supporting documentation for at least one of the below (employer letter, resignation or reduced work hours, childcare closure notice, etc.):

  • Laid off temporarily or permanently as a result of COVID-19
  • Reduced work hours as a result of COVID-19
  • Could not start a new job, or were terminated from a new job as a result of COVID-19 before establishing sufficient work history to be eligible for regular benefits
  • Loss of income for self-employed business owner, gig worker, or independent contractor as a result of COVID-19
  • Advised by a governmental or medical professional to self-quarantine as a result of COVID-19
  • Left a job or reduced hours to care for someone as a result of COVID-19
  • Left a job or reduced hours because of reasonable concerns for the risk of COVID-19 infection at work, for themselves or someone in their household
  • Unexpected COVID-19 related medical or funeral expense
  • Have other conditions resulting in loss of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic
